PLANOPTIK AG: Corporate restructuring

PLANOPTIK AG is streamlining its group structures. With the merger of the two German subsidiaries MMT GmbH and Little Things Factory GmbH into PLANOPTIK AG, the core activities of the PLANOPTIK Group are to be bundled in just one company. As a result, most of the Group's products will only be marketed under the joint PLANOPTIK brand.

All three companies are active in the field of microsystems technology and already have access to the same production and administrative structures for the most important business areas. PLANOPTIK AG intends to increase efficiency by integrating its processes.

For example, PLANOPTIK AG's wafer-based manufacturing processes and production facilities are used equally for PLANOPTIK AG's microelectronics and semiconductor technology products and for microfluidics products, most of which were recently marketed by the subsidiaries. The materials used, such as glass and silicon, are also often the same. For example, nozzles for inhalers are manufactured using technologies that are also used to produce products for wafer-level packaging for sensors.  

The merger will enable a better alignment of resources within the Group. At the same time as the merger, sales of particularly promising, profitable and fast-growing microsystems technology products will be strengthened, while smaller and less profitable peripheral activities will be significantly reduced.

The mergers are to be implemented in the coming weeks. In addition, the AIRTUNE business area, which primarily develops, produces and markets products for the elimination of odors, is currently being spun off into the new subsidiary AIRTUNE GmbH. This business, which generates comparatively low sales, will only play a subordinate role in future.
